Action for Children, Christmas Fayre

ACTION FOR CHILDREN – Originally known as National Childrens Home (NCH), founded by Rev Thomas Bowman Stephenson – a Methodist Minister – continues to work in partnership with Methodist Church.

It is deeply rooted in Methodist principles and it supports and speaks out for the UKs most vulnerable, disadvantaged and neglected children and young people – for as long as it takes.

On the second Sunday in July each year, the anniversary of its formation and its partnership with the Church are celebrated at services and activities throughout the UK.

The Baildon Team takes an active part annually in raising money by a range of events which include coffee mornings; film and musical evenings; frequent church collections; some support the cause by having ‘League of Light’ lanterns in their  homes and collect small change to help ‘bring light into the lives of the vulnerable’.

Last year we raised £5000.00 for Action for Children – will you help us to achieve a higher target at the forthcoming events.

The main annual event is the Christmas Fayre held in November, where Father Christmas takes centre stage and is visited by children in his magical grotto.  In addition there are :

  • Stalls selling cakes, gifts, toiletries, books, toys, jams, etc
  • Games for children to play
  • Baildon calendar on sale
  • Refreshments and hot lunches

None of this would happen without our army of volunteers and supporters for whom we are ever grateful.
