Future Building Group (FBG)

Future Building GroupThis time-limited Group was set up by BMC’s Church Council on 23rd February 2011.

Following on the highly regarded work of the Vision Group, the FBG’s purpose is set down in the Terms of Reference approved by the Church Council.  In summary:

Phase 1 (April to October 2011): To lay out the parameters and principles for the Church Council  to underpin the future of BMC’s Building Resource;

Phase 2: To oversee progress of any Church Council approved recommendations for the enhancement of BMC’s Building Resource.

“Quotations” that might help:

Aristotle The past and present are necessary; the future is possible

Denis Gabor The future cannot be predicted, but futures can be invented

George Bernard Shaw We are made wise not by the recollection of our past but by the responsibility for our future

    The flat roof over “Wesleys” has had enough problems in the past to make me feel it would not be advisable to meet the requests on “Post it” notes for windows in the roof.

    I would like to have greatly improved ventilation in the Church to refresh the atmosphere when full of people and automatic action to reduce heating to compensate for all the hot air caused by bodies!

    I would also like to have the glare of light removed from the front of the Church which makes it difficult to see the Preacher and distracts me; I refer to the Illuminated Cross and the two suspended Globe Lights.

    Glare from the cross lighting.

    the above website is for a company which specialises in producing coloured acrylic tubes which slide over existing flourescent tubes and should by choice of colour reduce the glare effect. perhaps you can ask them for a sample to try
