Sew Together SUCCESS – WE DID IT, THANK YOU.
Sixteen more blankets have been dispatched to the Hamlin Fistula UK Office in Birmingham. 12 of these were for the mothers to wear as shawls in the day and to use on their beds at night; 4 of them were for babies safely delivered by the trained Hamlin midwives. Thank you Mary and Garry for transporting them.
Each blanket will be given to a baby safely delivered by one of the midwives trained by the Hamlin College of Midwifery in Ethiopia. The college was set up in 2007 to offer a 4 year profession training in order to begin to prevent pregnant women being injured in child birth, suffering obstetric fistulae and giving birth to dead babies. The blankets are our way in Baildon of sharing the joy and celebration of uninjured Ethiopian mothers with their live babies and the success of the young midwives practising their newly acquired skills.
Our Sew Together group will continue to look forward to receiving 6” knitted blanket squares and to enjoy working together
