Traidcraft at Baildon Methodist Church

Traidcraft fights poverty through trade, helping people in developing countries to transform their lives.

Established in 1979 as a Christian response to poverty, Traidcraft are the UK’s leading fair-trade organisation.  They run development programmes in some of the poorest countries in the world, and campaign in the UK and internationally to bring about trade justice.

The Traidcraft stall is available in Wesleys on the 2nd and 4th Sunday.

Congratulations. The Tradecraft stall at Baildon Methodist Church started in 1982 and became the catalyist for the growth of Fairtrade in other Baildon churches, the estabishment of a Baildon Fairtrade Committee which has encouraged the local Co-operative store and local shops to stock Fairtrade items, local cafes to serve Fairtrade drinks and businesses to use Fairtrade drinks in their offics. Baildon was awarded the status of Fairtrade Town in 2005. This, together with other Fairtrade areas around Bradford, enabled the city to be awarded Fairtrade Zone status in 2006 and in January 2013, with the help of other Yorkshire Fairtrade towns and cities, the county became the first UK Fairtrade Region. As the Archbishop of York, Rev John Sentamu, said at the award cermony on 18th February 2013, “When you see the Fairtrade logo we can be sure farmers have been paid a fair price for a fair day’s work”. Let us keep campaigning for justice for all.
